The Apple Watch is a smartwatch developed by Apple that offers a wide variety of functions such as fitness tracking, health tracking, notifications, and smart home devices’ control.
One of the main advantages of the Apple Watch is its integration with the Apple operating system, which allows easy access to functions such as messaging, calls, and music control through voice commands and touch gestures. In addition, the Apple Watch has a wide variety of health and wellness features, such as sleep tracking, physical activity, and heart rate monitoring; in addition to receiving notifications and responding to messages without having to take the phone out of your pocket. It can also control smart home devices, be used as a GPS, and as a payment method with the Apple Pay function.
Some users have reported allergic reactions to wearing the watch, as well as itching, burning, or excessive heat from the device. In my case, as a researcher, I have used this device for more than 3 years and I have found variations in the electromagnetic emission levels. In the same way, in thermal radiation, the device presents an unusual heat emission that can be uncomfortable for people when it is just removed from the charger.
I must point out that I have dealt with a dozen electrohypersensitivity cases who have reported rashes, pricking sensations in the wrist, and even tingling. Tests have also shown unusual emission and electrostatic discharge from the device when below 20% battery charge.
Operationally, Apple Watch uses Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity technology to connect to an Apple device and provide a wide variety of functions. In addition, it has a touch screen and physical buttons to control the functions, as well as a microphone and speaker to make calls and activate the voice assistant.
The declared SAR level for Apple Watch is 1.59 W/kg in transmit mode and 1.34 W/kg in receive mode. This device has a high SAR emission, comparatively, it can be equivalent to the values declared by a smartphone of the same brand (iPhone).
As with the Air Pods, I have managed to effectively control electromagnetic fields through the SPIRO® filtering technology, allowing even individuals with severe EHS to use this smartwatch with the incorporation of the SPIRO® CARD in close proximity and following the recommendations for use, such as not using it when the battery is below 20% and not putting it on immediately after completing the charging process.
